Kona 2009 didn't quite turn out how we had envisioned it.  But even so, there were lessons learned and more dues paid to this crazy island!!  We put in a some great training and some great recovery time after Ironman Canada.  From here we'll do our best to get Heather ready to race and train again properly. Hopefully after a couple physio and ART appointments she'll have a better idea of the healing process involved.  For myself, Ironman Arizona is now 6 weeks away and I'm super confident I'll be hitting that race with the same fitness, if not better fitness, than I had for Ironman Canada.  This time round I won't be so non-chalant about my nutrition/hydration/pacing plan and I expect a ripping fast marathon split which is what much of this years training has focused on.  After a few good Ironman events over the last couple years, I was perhaps getting a bit too laid back about the day in general.  My result at Ironman Canada made me realize that no matter how fit and prepared you are, there's nothing you can leave to chance.

It would be wonderful if Heather could get herself into race condition for Arizona.  It's always nice to be in the same race together.  Her fitness is there right now, and there's still time for her to recover and get it all back before hitting that event.  Fingers crossed.

We're flying back to Canada on October 13th, then starting our IM Arizona and winter campaign within the week.  Looking forward to getting back into the RV.  We love our home!!!  We're driving down through Spokane, WA,  then on to Utah, past the Grand Canyon and into Arizona.  Hopefully we can hit some great training spots along the way.  Anyone wanting to meet up with us somewhere along the way between the weeks of October 20th - November 10th, give us a shout.  We'd love to have the training company and learn about the good locales.  Free RV parking always welcome!!!
