Hawaii Time

Soon after Heather got her spot for Kona (at IM Coeur d'Alene), we decided to commit to a good month long stint on the Island before the World Championships.  Unfortunately, I didn't manage to nab a spot this year, but I will be going over to help Heather train her best for the big day.  Financially it worked out OK.  We had to shell out cash for the plane ticket regardless, and finding a basement suite to rent for the month ended up being comparable to a months rent (Not RV rent, apartment rent) on the mainland.  A worthwhile cost to know you're not taking any chances on race day.

This will give her plenty of time to dial in race day clothing, hydration, nutrition, and pacing strategies that are often tough to plan for by simply talking to those who have done it.  Last year that didn't work out so well.  Coming from a cold and wet Victoria, BC, over to hot and oppressive Hawaii was a tough hit to the body.

As for me it will be a great place to recover from IM Canada (hopefully, recovery can be hard if it's too hot) and get back into training for IM Arizona in late November.

So, September 7th we head on over to Kona.  We'll keep the updates a coming.  Basement suite has wireless!!! YES!!
